The Impossible Green are ready with their first release on DWYBO Records. With In Search of Impossible Green, the band delivers their magnum opus—a laser-focused rock album that is rougher and less polished than their previous work. The hardworking quartet builds on their own musical foundation, expanding their sound with southern rock, americana, and a generous dose of 70s nostalgia.

The americana that defined The Impossible Green’s early years remains present, but the long-haired quartet this time leans more into 70s rock. Influences include bands like Humble Pie, The Rolling Stones, and Thin Lizzy, as well as newer artists such as Daniel Romano (who also inspired the band’s name).

The Impossible Green took Norway by storm in 2025 with their album Quicksilver Daydream, and the intense touring that followed has established them as one of the country’s hardest-working bands. This isn’t just press hype, either. In 2025, they played over 60 concerts in Norway, including major festivals like Øya, Vinjerock, Olavsfest, and Malakoff, and their 2026 tour schedule is just as packed. They’ve already sold out their hometown album release show at Byscenen in Trondheim (capacity 800) months in advance and had to add an extra show.

About the album, the band says: “In Search of Impossible Green is the pursuit of a utopian ideal. They say the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, and even though it’s impossible to get there (there’s always another fence), we’ll do our best. It’s a farewell to America, it’s a Japanese wandering poet’s ‘Samurai Blues,’ it’s the tambourine Messiah’s hopeless attempts at preaching, unconditional love in the ballad ‘Anything,’ and an epic life journey in the closing track ‘Fast Track, Slow Decay.’ This album asks a lot of questions, and as the music lives in the world, we hope to find some answers.”

In their hometown of Trondheim, the band are already legends. Recently, they were also invited to join Åge Aleksandersen’s latest project, Åge & Svarttrosten, where The Impossible Green and Violet Road together form Aleksandersen’s backing band. Big concerts are on the horizon for 2027.

The Impossible Green won the Trøndelag rock championship in 2019, and from there, they built their reputation through frequent touring over the years. Their debut album, In Technicolor (2024), really got the ball rolling and led to bookings at Trondheim Calling and by:Larm. The Impossible Green is a tight-knit group, who spend a lot of time on the road. Even early in their career, they had already completed several national tours. But we’re only at the beginning, and we expect there’s at least 20 years on the road ahead.
